Models and my Photography.

What should you expect?

First and foremost I am PROFESSIONAL, in my attitude. SO you will be safe. I have been photographing people for over 30 years, and I recon I have a good reputation among customers and models I have worked with. If you really, REALLY need references I can supply them, but you are highly unlikely to know who is providing the reference, but the offer is there.

Have a look through the images on here. that will give you a very good idea of what I do. I don't shoot anything other than what you see on here. I don’t shoot porn, I don't shoot tacky glamour. I don't shoot for any websites paid or unpaid. I shoot for ME. From time to time I am asked for an image to be used, on websites, or in books and magazines. Believe me, I am VERY strict, most are NOT allowed.

Model Releases.

If I have asked you to model, you will be asked to fill in and sign a Model Release. A model release is a document which says what we BOTH can and can't do with the images I shoot. It covers BOTH of us. It will outline what style of images I am shooting, and why. It will cover compensation to the model. It covers what the model can and can't do with any images supplied. It covers what I can and can't do with images I take. Sample here.

Compensation.

By compensation I mean what the model is paid for the shoot. There are many options.

Paid, simple, the model is paid an agreed amount, the details of the shoot are supplied and what the images are for, the model poses, the model gets paid, FINISH. Models tend NOT to receive any images from a purely paid shoot.

Part paid. Models receive a reduced fee with the proviso that images will also be supplied.

TFCD/TFP. TFP is as old as photography itself. Time for Prints, Model in return for posing will receive a number of prints from the shoot, either decided by the photographer, or, by agreement, by the model.TFCD is just the modern equivalent. Time for CD is simply a more up to date version, where the model will receive a number of images on a CD.

Time for ... Some alternative models in particular will work for time for clothes, accessories, stuff. In return for modelling the photographer will provide some of the clothes used in a shoot.

Customer Paid is a whole different game. The customer pays the photographer in return for images.

What I expect.

What I expect from my models is that they be as professional in their attitude and work as I am. I also need the models to "buy into" the shoot. I need the model to be part of the artistic process, and not just a shape to be photographed. I choose my models by how they look, their shape, their reputation, in THAT order. I have found that almost all of the models I have worked with, I will call back for more shoots, and they are very happy to come back. These days I am MOSTLY shooting for my books, and for VERY large Black and White Prints for Exhibition.

NON-Models

By which I mean people who do not normally model. I will shoot people who "want to give it a go". BUT, be aware, I expect my models to be nude, for at least part of the shoot. BUT remember, you don't HAVE to show everything, or indeed anything and still be nude.

If you would like a set of images for yourself, or your partner, then please feel free to ask. I can shoot in the studio, on location, in your home, anywhere. I will shoot for a CD, a few Prints, an Album, a Photobook, a coffee table book. Just ask.

I'm John Virtue, and I shoot NUDES.
